The mission of the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local Union No. 137 is to organize, educate, and represent all workers in our associated crafts.
The purpose of our Union is to represent all members in our fight to improve benefits, wages, and safe working conditions.
These aims are based on the foundation of values which include the affirmation of Human dignity, respect and appreciation for diversity and the promotion of social justice for all workers.
-We will accomplish the goals of our purpose and mission by:
-Enhancing diversity in the leadership of the organization and promoting and supporting it in the workplace,
-Continuing a comprehensive union education program producing a trained leadership team,
-Continuing our education to enable union representatives to build a solid foundation at every local of informed, unified and active members,
-Organizing the unorganized through new and diverse methods,
-Cooperative interaction with other unions and organizations sharing the same values, to learn from them and to make a positive contribution on our members’ behalf in an effort to build a better society for all.
The Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local Union No. 137 serves its members and their families, all associated crafts, the community, and the labor movement as a whole as we carry out this mission.
The Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association, Local Union No. 137 and unions around the world are facing a radically changing environment. Therefore, our union turns to strategic planning to invigorate and carry out our mission to organize, educate, and represent.
